As one of the most basic tools of the machining industry, especially the mold fitter, the bench vise can not only effectively improve the efficiency of the fitter's operation, but also reduce the damage to the workpiece during the operation. 1. There are two standards for the correct installation of a bench vise: (1) The fixed jaws are parallel to the edge of the worktable, a little bit is better. The purpose is to not be hindered by the clamp platform when clamping long workpieces. (2) The installation height of the bench vise should be adapted to the height of the operator. Generally, after the bench vise is installed, the height of the jaws is flush with the elbows of the general operator, making the operation convenient and labor-saving. 2. The function, specification and type of bench vise: The bench vise is the main tool for the fitter to clamp the workpiece during work. The bench vise is used to clamp the workpiece. Its specifications are expressed by the width of the jaws. The hardware is calculated in inches (1 inch u003d 25mm). Commonly used specifications are: 4 inch jaw width is 100mm, 5 inch pliers The jaw width is 125mm, the 6-inch jaw width is 150mm, the 8-inch jaw width is 200mm, the 10-inch jaw width is 250mm, and the 12-inch jaw width is 300mm. The maximum opening is generally equivalent to the width of the jaws. There are two types of bench vise, fixed type and rotary type. The structure and principle are basically the same. The rotary vise clamps the handle, the vise can be turned on the chassis to change the jaw direction, making it easy to operate; the rotary vise body is made of cast iron, in order to extend the service life, the upper part is tightened The fixing screws fasten the two hardened steel jaws, and the jaw working surface has oblique teeth to clamp the workpiece and prevent sliding. When clamping precision workpieces, soft jaws made of copper and other materials should be used to avoid clamping the surface of the workpiece. Loosen the handle and the vise can be turned under the chassis. Refer to the structure diagram of the bench vise. 1- handle, 2- wire waste, 3- movable clamp body, 4- jaw, 5- screw, 6-fixed clamp body, 7- screw nut, 8- locked to the handle, 9- turntable, 10 -Rotary seat, 11-pin, 12-retaining ring, 13-spring 3. Matters needing attention when using a bench vise: (1) The workpiece should be clamped in the middle of the jaws of the bench vise to make the jaws evenly stressed; (2) ) When turning the handle to clamp the workpiece, it is not allowed to add sleeves on the handle or hit with a hammer to avoid damaging the thread on the vise screw or nut; (3) Do not hit on the smooth surface of the movable pliers body Work, so as not to damage its matching performance with the fixed clamp body; (4) Active surfaces such as screw rods, nuts, etc., should be kept clean and lubricated (use a higher viscosity oil) to prevent rust; (5) Clamp the workpiece When the surface is smooth and clean, it should be protected by copper skin or pin skin (such jaws are also called soft jaws); (6) When working strongly on the vise (referring to a hand hammer, but a sledgehammer is not allowed), The force should be directed toward the fixed pliers body as much as possible, because the force is directed toward the movable pliers body, which is easy to damage the parts (nut, screw, etc.) of the vice.
